Collard Greens

Ordering online will place you in our CSA (community supported agriculture) drop and have your organic vegetables harvested and dropped fresh every Saturday after 12pm.  We'll keep them in the cooler till you pickup. You will receive store credit for any unavailable crop.  Thank you for supporting these exceptional organic farmers!
 
Collards are a broadleaf green with a crisp stem down the middle, and a flavor similar to cabbage, but stronger. The leaves are earthy and can be a bit bitter, slightly reminiscent of mustard greens. The stems are milder than the leaves and very crisp, tasty to munch on like a carrot stick. The heartiness of the leaves works well as a wrap, in place of a flour tortilla. If you find them intimidating, try a simple garlic clove sautéed collard greens recipe. When cooked well they can be delicious, a little salt acid, and fat will transform them.
